Where do our taxes go? Certainly not to repair the thousands of potholes in Calgary. It’s an embarrassment and a shame that we have to drive on the roads and actually have to swerve our cars to miss these potholes. They are large and deep and cause serious damage to our vehicles. This is ridiculous.

Appointment fails odor test

David Johnston should have turned down Trudeau’s offer to be a spokesperson on Chinese interference in the Canadian elections. This applies not only to the last two federal elections, but also to the elections in the province of Ontario and the last municipal elections in Vancouver. Johnston had a very close relationship with the Trudeau family many years ago. Families even had cottages next to each other. Johnston is also a member of the Trudeau Foundation. Although nominated by Harper, Johnston supported the Liberal Party. He made a number of trips to China as head of the university and governor general. Three of his daughters studied at universities in China. Johnston met with China’s leader Xi, who called him a great friend of the Chinese people. In view of the foregoing, it is difficult to see how Johnston is not seriously compromised as a speaker and can act impartially. There are many questions about his current appointment both from the official opposition and from the media not controlled by Trudeau.

Why year-round hunting?

It’s always overwhelming to read about all the reasons for big game hunting here in Alberta. Can anyone tell me what they do to a bighorn sheep when they get shot? Do all animals adapt? Is the head attached to the wall somewhere? Is it just the thrill of the hunt? I never understood the thought of taking the life of such a beautiful animal or hunting any animal for that matter. Extending the hunting season to a full year seems incredible. Perhaps the government of the UCP could think about it again? To say that hunters can have “the hunt of a lifetime” is nauseating.

Same old song

Notley took charge of the NDP campaign. Now we will hear more of the same old rhetoric and pessimism that we have heard since 2019. Negativity designed to bring us down to their level. It’s so old. Notley wants to convince the people of Calgaria that she cares about them by opening an office in the city. Where has she been these four years? She must have thought I’d better take an interest outside of Edmonton, so, uh, let’s go to Calgary. It will show them, right? Well, Rachel, it’s too late for that. We remember the economic disasters that the NDP caused when it was in power.
